On Wednesday, top Democrats and strategists for Mr. Cuomo, acknowledging that Mr. Paladino has tapped into genuine anger at Albany, said they would move to turn the focus away from that message and onto the man, who they say is unfit for the job.

Allies of Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic candidate for governor, are trying to distract New Yorkers away from the mess in the state’s government.  If they can force the media to cover Mr. Paladino’s himself instead of the issues, they think they can slip another one of their puppets into office and continue the charade.
