Norm Coleman: Don’t Limit Small Government Movement To Tea Party

Good idea.

Though I’m sympathetic to Tea Party concerns I’m an Independent. Low taxes and public spending are important to the health of the country, but that is just the fiscal side. There’s also regulations of all sorts that are intrusive and damaging.

Virtually any increase in spending, taxes, and regulations has an unintended consequence, usually adverse and not immediately seen. It may not be recognized as a government action, but an action taken by a corporation.  Any additional spending will increase the pressure to raise taxes, be they income taxes, payroll taxes, personal taxes, corporate taxes.  Politicians will look far and wide to increase the resources they control.
