With a heavy regulatory burden, payroll taxes and health-care costs, employing people is very expensive.
The politicians who insist on various protections and “rights” make employing people too expensive. The rights they talk about are positive rights, ie, entitlements. These burdens accelerate the pace at which firms seek to trim employee costs.
So instead of helping “families” or “the middle-class”, politicians are actually making their lives worse because they are making employing people more expensive. The weight of this burden is deadening.
