So now the Federal Trade Commission can tell corporations what software tools they must use to development applications. Wrong, wrong, wrong! Get out of our cubicles, offices, computers, development environments you creeps!!!
Here is Steve Jobs’ reason for letting Apple determine what computer applications can interface with its APIs:
We know from painful experience that letting a third party layer of software come between the platform and the developer ultimately results in sub-standard apps and hinders the enhancement and progress of the platform.
Totally reasonable; Apple does not want sub-standard software to make its products less appealing. A bad app can make lower the quality of the entire product.
Unfortunately, tech executives brought this on themselves by hobnobbing with politicians. Some 15 years ago Sun Microsystems sic’ed the government on Microsoft, and since then the barbarians have only gotten closer to business people. They should have heeded the advice of Cypress Semiconductors CEO T.J. Rodgers to sign the “Declaration of Independence from Corporate Welfare.
