“My concern right now—my singular focus—is the American people. Getting the unemployed back on the job, lifting their wages. Rebuilding that sense of security the middle class has felt slipping away for years,” Mr. Obama said Friday as he announced a plan to spur hiring of veterans, who face particular challenges finding work.

The plan would offer tax credits for companies that hire veterans as well as enhanced training for those leaving the military.

So the choice for an employer comes down to a veteran and non-veteran. The employer gets a tax credit, yet another corporate tax loophole, for hiring a veteran. The non-veteran has no such subsidy attached to him/her. I guess this is called leveling the playing field. I’m sure he can count on conservatives to support this proposal; they’ll do anything for the most authoritarian (military and police) part of the government.
