Yesterday, President Obama gave a speech where he chided the people who resist his and the Democrat’s ideology for hewing to their own ideology. I’m no Republican, but those who want higher taxes, government-run health care, heavy regulations on business but also special subsidies for them, and entitlement programs are pushing their own ideology. As compared to other products and services that people buy and sell on a daily basis, government-run health care seems oddly out-of-place. Why do we use insurance for routine medical services? Why are we forced to buy health insurance for ailments we’ll never experience such as a man having to pay for a PAP smear?

Democrats have used this line about only “the rich” have to pay higher taxes. It’s a ruse to get enough people to think it will not affect them. At specific periods of time, specific income ranges were the top 1%, 5%, whatever rhetoric they used. In the early 1980’s, they used to say $30,000 – $50,000. In the early 1990’s it was $80,000 – $100,000. Now they say $200,000 – $250,000. Then after they get an official scoring back from some government agency for their proposals, Democrats say oops, taxes on those people didn’t raise enough money and the budget deficit is still too large. We have to increase taxes on more than just those rich people. Then Democrats move to raise taxes across the board.
