The opinion, jointly written by judges Joel Dubina and Frank Hull, said Congress had broad power to deal with the problems of the uninsured, “but what Congress cannot do…is mandate that individuals enter into contracts with private insurance companies for the purchase of an expensive product from the time they are born until the time they die.”
Why don’t we have this problem with all the other products and services we buy on a regular basis? Answer: because the government is involved in health insurance, paying for medical products and services, and regulating what medical products and services we can and cannot buy.
Conservatives, Republicans, independents, and Tea Party: even if Obamacare is ultimately repealed, the U.S. will still have government-run, socialized medicine. Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance through employers are all government-dictated medical care. They have to be reformed in order to ensure we enjoy medical care the same way we do other products and services.
